[su_tabs][su_tab title=”About”]My research interests encompass the Learning Sciences, Design-Based Research, CSCL and Interaction Design. I am particularly interested in the design aspects of educational technologies and how novel computing can be effectively deployed in educational settings to enhance the learning experience. I recently completed my PhD, under the supervision of Prof. Liam Bannon, and within the Interaction Design Centre, University of Limerick, which was entitled: Disappearing technology, emerging interactivity a study of the design of novel computing to enhance children’s learning experience in museums. I am currently working with the University of Limericks PUII, Programme for University Industry Interface, (Web site) , where we are exploring the best mechanisms and technologies for delivering training and up-skilling in the workplace, specifically for engineering graduates employed in small and medium-sized enterprises. I was also involved in the Kaleidoscope Network (in collaboration with the IDC), specifcally the research project MELISSA or Mobile Enhanced Learning in Informal Science Settings and Activities. I worked previously as a second-level teacher: Physical Education, English and ICT. I graduated with a Master of Information Technology from NUI, Galway in 2000 and a B.A. in Physical Education and English from UL in 1998. [/su_tab] [su_tab title=”Publications”]
