Conor Higgins

[su_tabs][su_tab title=”About”]

Conor is a PhD student originally from Limerick and a graduate of BSc. Music, Media and Performance Technology (1st class honours), he was also the recipient of the Accenture Academic Innovation award for 2010 for his final year project.
His primary interest has always been assistive devices and applications along with automation and machine learning. A primarily self taught iOS developer and mobile application designer, Conor also worked as a freelance developer and designer during his time as an undergraduate.
Conor’s PhD research deals with the use of evolutionary computation as a clinical tool for aiding the development and growth of aphasic users’ retrievable word lexicon, particularly those whom suffer from difficulties in written naming. This research will result in the development of both a simplistic mobile application targeted at patients, and a web application offering speech and language professionals the ability to monitor, intervene and analyze patients’ day-to-day progress.
