• The panel will explore the variety of existing online social networking opportunities from the active users perspective - getting beyond their perceived advantages/disadvantages as sometimes outlined in the mainstream media.

• The discussion will touch on:

  • networking through social objects- YouTube, Flickr, SlideShare, CiteULike, del.icio.us
  • blogs as social interfaces; blog ecosystems; micro-blogging -Twitter, Jaiku
  • face-to-face social networking events: BarCamps, OpenCoffee, TechLudd, Paddy's Valley, Blogger Coffee, MeetUps
