Travel to Limerick

Please note, people coming to Thomond village, please go directly to the village reception first to unload luggage. This is better than coming directly to Conference Registration. People arriving in Thomond village before 8am and after 8pm (if flight arrives in Shannon after 7pm, then you are in this category), please e-mail Louise Mulcahy, in the case of a delay on the day of arrival, the telephone number for Thomond Village is 061-237000. People taking train from Dublin to Limerick, please note that many of the trains stop at Limerick Junction, where you usually need to change for Limerick.

The best way to reach the University of Limerick is to fly to the Shannon airport, located 20km north of Limerick City. Scheduled flights arrive daily at Shannon from London's Heathrow and Stansted airports, Paris' Roissy/Charles De Gaulle airport. Dublin airport, as well as several other European and US locations providing a convenient hub facility.There is a bus service from Shannon Airport to Limerick City Center.


Bus, Taxi and Car Hire services are available from the airport for delegates.


Taxi services from  Shannon Airport will be available to take delegates from the airport to hotels and to the campus accomodation for the conference, prices people should expect to pay per taxi are:

Limerick city / Limerick Inn / Limerick Ryan / Jury's Hotel : €TBC

Castletroy Park Hotel: €TBC

Thomond Village: €TBC

(Up to 4 people can share a taxi)Other possibilities include

Train: Iarnrod Eireann operate a regular train service to/from Limerick city. Details are available from their Inter City Timetable

Bus: There are regular bus services to/from Limerick operated by Bus Eireann. Buses will run from the aiport to town hourly from the beginning of June, deligates traveling to the Castletroy Park Hotel, Kilmurry Lodge Hotel, Thomond Village can take the bus to the city, and then a taxi to their accommodation.

Car hire, at Shannon Airport.

For your information, taxis are available from the Train Station and City Centre to the University and cost on average €TBC - €TBC. 

Moreover, regular buses between the campus and Limerick city centre are available. A ticket costs approximately €0.95 cent. The buses from the city center are usually the no 308 or the no 302 from the bus stop near the Centra shop on William Street in Limerick city.
